Meet Krystina
Take 5 with… Krystina!
Welcoming someone into your home, whatever their profession may be, can be quite a big deal for some. We understand how important it is to create an instant sense of familiarity so that you feel well looked after during our time with you. This is why we are introducing each of our team members over the coming months, well before we meet! We may not have met you yet, but we would love for you to get to know us.
Today we would like for you to meet the cheerful Krystina; our blissful newlywed who loves a night in with takeaway and friends, or a cheeky weekend getaway in her van.
Who is your hero?
I never really picture people as heroes but I think the closest person to that would be my mum. She has a quiet strength and has made many sacrifices whilst always giving so generously to our family. She is always there to help and does so much, so I think she deserves that title!
If you could spend time with three people from history (dinner party/ coffee/ entire weekend staycation), who would you want to meet and why?
This is a hard one! Trying to think of historical figures as someone who isn’t strong on history is tricky haha. But I would definitely have coffee with C.S. Lewis. It could turn into a weekend away as I feel I would have lots to pick his brain about with his incredible writings. I feel like conversations with him would be so profound. A dinner/dance party would be outrageous with someone like Jimmy Hendrix, or just some really cool old school musician who can make me feel nostalgic for an era I wasn’t even alive for. My third would probably be Steve Irwin. Not an old figure in history but one that made a huge impact on my childhood and someone I was devastated to see pass so soon. We would talk all things wildlife, marine life and conservation, and probably go have encounters with a bunch of animals which would be awesome.
What is your favourite way to spend a day off?
My favourite way to spend a day off always involves being by the ocean and going for a swim. I’m highly extroverted, so if friends are around then it’s an even better day! I also love an infrared sauna session, keeps my body relaxed and eases my muscles, our job at MH is very physical so it keeps me functioning healthily.
What song always gets you out on the dance floor (and what moment does that song remind you of)?
Look, it doesn’t take much to get me to dance. And there are so many songs out there it’s hard to choose! But the classics always get me, like ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody’ by Whitney Houston or ‘Dancing Queen’ by ABBA. ‘I Gotta Feeling’ by the Black Eyed Peas is also a major pump up and takes me back to when I danced a lot in high school. There’s so many that always get me on the DF.
Tell us about your most memorable holiday/trip (it can be a story of a disastrous trip too!).
My most memorable trip was a 6 week adventure I had with my best friend in Canada. We explored both sides of the country in the spring/summer and saw such a variety of landscapes (the mountains are just incredible). We ended our trip in New York which was really cool. This was our last trip as single gals as we both got into relationships soon after getting back, so it was such a special time being in similar life stages and getting to travel a part of the world with my bestie.
If you weren’t working at MH, what would be occupying your time?
I think I’d be putting time into writing music and diving into other creative outlets that have taken a bit of a backbench over recent years. If I was still working quite a bit alongside these creative things, I think that I would be working in something relating to outdoor recreation, ideally marine based as I am so passionate about the ocean and protecting our ecosystems.
What has been your most rewarding MH moment?
I think for me the most rewarding moments are when we achieve a huge job as a team and we see the overwhelming sense of gratitude that comes from our clients. Seeing a client so relieved and amazed at the work we do is always rewarding, and getting to witness them shake off the stresses and be able to relax in their new home is such a beautiful thing.
What is your favourite aspect of MH?
I love meeting people and being welcomed into their homes. It’s such a beautiful thing to be a guest in someone’s home, even if you aren’t necessarily a friend and providing a service. You get to know the clients and develop relationships and talk about life, and some of the conversations I’ve had have really stuck with me. Also the aspects of going through the process with people, seeing them go from overwhelmed to relieved and relaxed is something that shows me what I do has purpose and makes a difference.
What’s one thing you wish you’d known before starting work with MH?
I wish I had known just how physical the jobs are. I love having an active job, but I think coming into it I didn’t realise just how strong I would need to be to get things done and make sure my body didn’t fall apart at the end of the day!
When talking with your friends, what is one thing you always tell them about MH?
Haha I feel like I always gravitate to talking about the cool things I have seen in peoples homes, and the donation items that are sometimes gifted or offered to our team. You never know what you are gonna find and that is always a fun talking point. I’m really passionate about pre loved, second hand goods and giving them a new home, so this is something I talk about on a regular basis.
And there we have our lovely Krystina. If you’d like to know more about how we can help you with your next move, please reach out and meet the team today.
