Meet Kendall
Take 5 with… Kendall!
Welcoming a team of unknown people into your home, whatever their profession may be, can be quite the nervous moment. It’s perfectly natural to have questions like Will they be kind? Will they treat you with respect?
Our hearts desire is to ensure that you carry a sense of familiarity with us, even before we meet face to face. We want to ensure that you feel well looked after during our time with you. This is why we are introducing each of our team members over the coming months, well before we set foot inside your home. We may not have met you yet, but we would love for you to get to know us!
Today we would like for you to meet our treasured Kendall. A creative force, Kendall is a photographer, a designer, an adventurer and one of our kind hearted and authentic team members.
What’s the last TV show you binged-watched? And would you recommend it?
Currently watching Justified - a US Marshal with a cowboy vibe, hillbillies in the drug trade, set in back woods Kentucky. Definitely recommend if you like criminals with southern accents.
If you could have an ‘Encanto’ type of gift, what would it be?
Ironic, given our job, but to have a Mary Poppins-esque ability to click my fingers and have my van and house decluttered, cleaned and tidied, and rid of junk. It’s so much easier to do for someone else!
If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be? A classic margarita pizza with a good crust, or mum’s Christmas Day noodle salad.
What kinds of activities energise you?
A jump in the ocean, a beer in the sun with friends, wandering in the city, and road trips with good views.
Talk to us about something you’re passionate about.
I get passionate about like 50 new things every month so this is genuinely a hard one to narrow down/will have probably changed by the time this is posted, BUT currently I’m geeking on making playlists for ultra specific moods, and prioritising good communication.
Apparently there are 100 ways to cook eggs. How do you order yours?
On the side for someone else to eat instead ;) Or fried so hard you can’t taste the egg anymore.
What has been your most rewarding MH moment?
We recently worked on a 4 bedroom, 3 loungeroom, library with about 1200 books house, that we spent about 2 months sorting, decluttering, packing and clearing out. To see the client settled into their new home and the old one empty was satisfying to say the least!
What were you doing for work before you joined MH?
I’m actually trained as a designer and photographer! I was working for an agency before MH, and now I’m working for myself and doing MH work on the side.
In your opinion, what is it that makes MH so unique?
Everyone comes from such different backgrounds so everyone brings something different to the table, but I’ve been blown away by our teams compassion and generosity for our clients - remembering coffee orders, cuddles when needed, building such personal relationships is such an asset in a job where so often peoples lives are being flipped upside down.
If you were helping your parents prepare their home for sale, what’s the first piece of advice that you would give them?
My parents are currently contemplating downsizing so this is a very real conversation we’ve had! Among my comments were: “replace the pool fence” (a DIY job by Dad, from the fencing of my old Kindy) “Dad you don’t need three selfie sticks” and “The blue leather couch has got to go”. Otherwise, they’ve got good style and have maintained it well, so I think they’re in for luck!
