Meet Jo
Take 5 with… Jo!
If you were to ask our team at Made Home what helped in their decision to work with us, one of the more common responses is because of the positive impact that we have in the lives of others, and how rewarding it is to simply help. Our team are some of the most people oriented folk you’ll ever meet, and Jo is no exception.
As our wonderful Client Liaison, Jo has a genuine heart for people of all walks, and for journeying alongside our clients through what can sometimes be tricky and vulnerable times. Let’s get to know Jo.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
To love people wholeheartedly and unreservedly.
What’s the last TV show you binged-watched? Should we all go and watch it?
Love on the Spectrum - US.
It is about people with Autism Spectrum Disorder, navigating the world of relationships, dating and romance. The show highlights that as humans we all want connection and to be loved regardless of Disability or Neurodiversity. It’s simple, authentic and an absolute tear-jerker. I highly recommend it.
If you were a drink, what would you be and why?
Kombucha - It’s healthy, fizzy, a little bit bougie and is always followed by no regrets!
If you could spend time with three people from history (dinner party/ coffee/ entire weekend stay-cation), who would you want to meet and why?
Hmm, that’s a hard one… there are so many inspirational people I would love to meet. A few people that come to mind would be Mother Teresa, Harriet Tubman and Dr Catherine Hamlin, all women who courageously changed the world with love in action.
What activity instantly calms you?
Being in nature, particularly by the water, whether beach, river, or waterfall.
What is your favourite family tradition?
PJ afternoon. This tradition occurs on rainy, cold Saturdays when my family all come home from various activities and jump straight into our pj’s, turn our phones off and watch a movie, play board games and make homemade pizza or order take-away.
What’s the most adventurous thing you’ve ever done?
Travelled to France by myself a few years ago. I tried to speak a little bit of High School French (poorly), but my Australian ‘parlez vous anglais?’ and Google Translate saved the day when I was lost!
What were you doing for work before you joined MH?
I most recently pastored a Church and prior to that I have worked for various not-for-profit organisations. I love working for organisations that add value to people’s lives.
What is your favourite aspect of MH, as a company and as a team?
Made Home exists to support people through a very stressful period of time, whether selling a home, moving home or decluttering a home. We make the stressful process easy and manageable. I love that we lighten a burden, and bring peace and joy to a client’s home. Home is where the heart is, and I love that we value and honour the sacred home space. Seeing the transformation of a home and people through our company is so rewarding.
What has been your most rewarding MH moment?
I received a text from a beautiful client that we had helped move and unpack saying that the last time she moved house, she was crying in a fetal position and this time, with our help, she was enjoying a glass of wine, her home fully unpacked. She couldn’t thank us enough. It made my day!
Thanks Jo for spending some time sharing with us all, it’s been a pleasure learning about your heart for others.
