Meet Shonelle
Take 5 with… Shonelle!
Have you got a fresh cuppa? We’d love for you to meet another of our wonderful team members. We have been intentional around the culture we are building at MH, to ensure that only the loveliest of people will walk through your door to help you with your process. People who we would feel comfortable sending around to our own parents, to help them sell their homes (and some of us have used our team for exactly this!).
Today we would like for you to meet the energetic Shonelle; our gal who loves a late night/ slow morning, self confessed “Huuuuuge Foodie” and genuine fan of The Wiggles (might be in part thanks to her little ones).
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
Worship, then Work. Not the other way around. It’s important to keep my priorities in line.
If you could transform into any animal, what would you choose?
Seals are cool - they swim, sleep and eat a lot. Probably ties in with my love of sleep-ins and all things gourmet.
What fun adventure would you have if you won the Lotto?
I would go to Ireland to live for a while! My husband and I have always loved the UK and Ireland, so it would be cool to go and spend some decent time over there. I’d throw in a trip to Iceland with my friends and family, hire 4WD’s and head somewhere remote to go camping.
If you were a drink, what would you be?
A coffee! I love to turn sadness (ha!) into happiness, bring people together and get lots done.
Let’s pretend that you could snap your fingers and become an expert in something, instantly. What would it be?
I would probably want to be an expert in the Property Market. To understand the ins and outs and be able to predict which areas are about to boom. I find it all fascinating, which is why working at MH in such a variety of homes is so enjoyable!
Talk to us about something you’re looking forward to.
I’m excited to try my hand in resin casting! It’s a fun new hobby that I’ll use to open up my creative mind and make a whole bunch of beautiful things. Actually, I plan to make letters and words, maybe even my kids names.
What were you doing for work before you joined MH?
Before I had my family, I worked in Event Management - mostly organising weddings. It was fun and I enjoyed the wide variety of experiences and meeting new people all the time.
What do you love most about working at MH?
It’s deeply satisfying to know that our presence and our process make life so much easier for our clients.
If you were helping your parents prepare their home for sale, what piece of advice would you give them?
I’d tell them that they need to hire us! This is a tricky one, my parents have A LOT of stuff. I think I’d tell them how important it is to begin the process of clearing their spaces as early as possible. Don’t wait until crunch time of buying and selling, to do your declutter. Strip everything back to essentials and sentimentals now, and give yourself enough time to work through every cupboard and drawer. I’d also share the importance of hiring a styling service. A simple and clear kitchen with a couple of key pieces, and bedrooms that are made up beautifully are really inviting to buyers. They set the tone for the lifestyle that can be lived in that home, which is really what you’re doing when you sell a home, you’re promoting a possible life and future for another family.
If the rest of the team had to describe you, what would they say?
Haha! Probably something about being a little loopy (I like to keep the mood light) or ‘getting it done’. If there’s a job to do, you can bet your bottom dollar that I’ll push through till it’s finished. I don’t like leaving things half done, and I’m a firm believer in doing something right, the first time.
Thank you Shon for spending some time to introduce yourself and share a little about your life and loves! If you’d like to know more about how Shonelle and the team can help you with your next move, please reach out and have a chat today.
