Did you see us on Sunrise?

After a whirlwind year of growth and change, one of 2022’s most exciting ventures was Kirsty being invited as a guest to Channel 7’s Weekend Sunrise. Chatting with Weekend hosts Matt Doran and Sally Bowrey, Kirsty was given centre stage to discuss the best way to prepare your home for market and gave a few top tips on how to tackle your spaces. In case you missed the segment, here are three of Kirsty’s gem pieces of advice.

Try not to start too big.

This can lead to massive overwhelm! If you decide to tackle your entire kitchen and then decide that it’s too much, you’ll end up shoving everything back into cupboards and drawers, with very little resolution and a whole lot of deflation. Start with one cupboard. Pull everything out onto the bench, give the shelves a really good wipe out, then put back only the key items that you actually use. Do you use 5 saucepans? Probably not. You’ll likely have your couple of favourites that are in regular use. Re-home, recycle or repurpose anything that doesn’t need to fill your space.

Sort out one drawer while the kettle boils.

This is an easy one! Throw out all those old crusty rubber-bands, move on the “random kitchen-wizz tool” that you’ve never used and pop your regular use items back into their rightful homes. If you don’t have a cutlery tray, Kmart and Ikea have versatile options. Try not to overload your drawers with all.the.things, you probably don’t need to stockpile supplies in case you run out. You’d be amazed at the amount of kitchen items that find their way into our spaces without us knowing!

Use storage containers to separate your drawers and cupboards into organised compartments.

You can re-use old takeaway containers or jars, you don’t need to use anything fancy, but head out to Kmart or Bunnings and take a look at their available options. Just remember, measure twice, buy once. Labelled baskets are a great option in linen cupboards, labels on shelves are super helpful, and giving things a home is the best way to keep your spaces clear and organised.
